Information on the Maremma Sheepdog
posted by adminThe Maremma Sheepdog is one dog whose bark is worse than its bite. This fluffy, white dog is a big dog with a head similar to a bears. These dogs are incredibly loyal to their families and will be a great companion to have around the house.
History
The Maremma Sheepdog is a working class dog who has guarded sheep for their owners. This dog will scare away any form of wildlife that would have come across the farmlands. The Maremma Sheepdog loves to run in fields and be a protector to their owners. This dog has a very even temperament and does not scare off easily. This dog will stop anyone in their tracks who will step onto their property if uninvited. It was though that this dog was bred in the mountainous climates from two different breeds entirely. The sheepdog originated in Europe before traveling to the Americas.
Caring For The Dog
The Maremma Sheepdogs coat is thick and fluffy that needs to be brushed at least daily. When they are in their shedding phase, they need to be bathed and brushed more often than when they are not in the shedding phase. Even though the Maremma Sheepdog has an even temperament, they still have a lot of energy to spare, and would be wise for the owner to walk the dog daily in order to get their daily required exercise in. This will make the home of the sheepdog much more laid back and relaxed.
